Personal Enrichment

The Managing Relationships in College workshop was surprisingly interesting. I thought it was just going to bore me with a great amount of cheesy-ness! Instead it actually discussed the psychology behind different relationships: business, romantic, and friendship.

Arts at Baruch

I was very surprised to find that Baruch had a gallery, Sidney Gallery at Baruch. They were currently having a Nature Photography exhibit which was beautiful. My friends and I were able to have a guide assist with information on each panting as well.

Career Exploration

The Internships and Goal Setting workshop was actually quite informative. It went into great detail on how to get an internship and I will use the information in the future. A lot of info was also given out on what internships are currently available.

Student Life

The Student Services Fair was yet another overcrowded hectic workshop of students in and out, just for a signature. It is for this reason that I find the workshop program to be a bit unnecessary. Although, It was some what helpful to speak with ten different volunteers, in order to get the ten required punches.

GLobal Community Awareness workshop

On Oct. 6, 2009 I attended the NY Blood Drive at Baruch. It was a well organized event on the first floor of the vertical building. I was given my own slot of time to have blood taken, after filling out a questionnaire, instead of waiting on a long line. It was nice to see so many people donating blood.

I saw a live reading of the play A Dolls House. It was good but i was already familiar with the play. Its about a woman named Nora who is happily married to her husband Torvalt until a mean banker trys to blackmail Nora. He can do this because he gave Nora a loan to take her husband on vacation when he was ill and Nora fake signed her fathers signature on it. It ends happily ever after though.

This was a guidance like workshop to help you in college. It didn’t really help me becuase most the information is common sense. These kinds of workshops would be good resources if you felt you need them but its a waste of time to be forced to go.

I went to a workshop about the fall of the berlin wall. It told us about the berlin wall and when and why it was created. It totally seperated Berlin from the rest of germany. This workshop was okay, I had already learned the info in every history class i’ve ever taken.
