salome part 6

I really am frustrated with the bibliography process since  I cant seem to understand what kind of sources I have. besides that I dont know if they are peer reviewed. only way i can find out is if i specifically look for the peer reviewed articles on a database but then i dont find most of them useful. By now I mostly have non peer reviewed sources, which is not bad however the citation is probably the worst part of my college life. I understand that I need to cite my sources and I have no problem with the idea but the technical process of  periods and columns and capitalization is really unpleasant. I really hope my bibliography will be correct by sunday. I really dont want to look at the OWL website if I dont have to.

Besides that im learning a lot about my topic and  I like it to which is rare during research.

    Dear Salome,

I understand that the process may be tedious at times but I would like t offer some advice in regards to verifying peer revision status. In certain cases the library database will state if the source has been peer reviewed or you may set the search criteria in order to limit the search to peer reviewed results. In addition, you may access Education Resource Information Center at http://www.eric.ed.gov/ and in the search box insert the title of your study. If the study is located within their database they will include the following:

    – Peer Reviewed Status
    – Title/ Author
    – Descriptors (key words associated with the study, which you can use to locate additional resources)
    – Publisher
    – Publication Date
    – Pages
    – Publication Types

I have found this site to be very helpful and one last suggestion would be to expand your search using the title of your topic and selecting peer reviewed sources for the search criteria in order to identify what topics has been examined in past studies. You may choose to select one of these areas, which are based on your very topic but provide additional resources that you may use to build and develop your research paper. I hope these suggestions help and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

    Have a great weekend!

    Best,
    Carmen Cortez
