After I submitted my paper I went back to information did not put in my paper I realized some of this was valuable information. It can make my argument stronger and points clear. I put effort into my paper and hoping it will turn out good. I’m still a nervous wreck and worried. I hope everyone else is doing well.

Hey guys so I started on my paper and felt scared writing it. I was getting writer block an felt confused I then decided to work on my presentation and things became clear. Im struggling with my last point of the argument because there is a lot of statistical data involved.  I am stressed about this paper trying to figure out how to put information, but hopefully I will get through it

Hello everyone sorry tha my post is late. This whole wee I have been  doing intense research and kinda lost track. I met with professor Hensley and he provide me with great information. I am currently working on what  strategies is NRA using and are they successful in the political process. My argument is that NRA strategies are successful, but my research shows they are not. I find this ironic due to the fact that NRA has endorsed all republican candidates for elections and they they spend millions of dollars.

Hey guys its Rahad. I hope everyone is safe form sandy. Its crazy in NYC no gas and power, but were going to make it through.

I have been researching on Academic search complete and noticed many of my research is magazine articles. This whole time I was trying to play it safe by clicking on peer reviewed thinking I was getting the best articles, but that’s not the case. Many of these articles are one sides and opinion based. I decided to leave academic search complete for a bit and go back to my old friend Google. I typed in nation rifle association in Google and went to their website in which I was amazed.

I was so mad at myself for not looking at this before. This answered the question to my argument how NRA has influenced court cases in the past contains to gun control and gun owner ship. These guys are running muliti million dollar organization and I have to say they are one of the best activist groups in the country. The NRA has established The civil rights funds in which help support, court decision, legal legislation and any other court case containing to gun owner ship and gun control. This is an organization was creates by the NRA. They are handling numerous cases across the country. I am currently reviewing the NRA web site and is giving much deeper understanding of the organization and helping me answer questions on gun control and gun rights.

Hey guys before my meeting with professor Kafka I was feeling overwhelmed by trying to find my topic question. It was tuff an hard and didn’t know what direction to go. After I talked to professor Kafka she gave me  advise to look more in to The NRA and political influences. I have found  about 2-3 articles talking about NRA and influence. I’m hoping to find more. Another note I’m surprised both presidential cnidtes have not spoken about gun control policies ever since they went on the campaign trail. Its all behind closed doors.

So the big topic of the week is the debate between Obama and Romney. All news channels, Facebook and twitter are saying how president Obama was very weak in his arguments and Romney won the debate. Also Romney’s big bird comments made headlines. I was even on Facebook making fun those comments. Going back to the debates, I feel that both candidates were strong. Obama did great when he addressed the people in their fifty’s about health care. Romney had great answers about how we can fix the economy and create jobs. I am not taking sides, but we have to remember Obama is still the current president and has made mistakes in the past four years. Romney is taking these mistakes and pointing them at him. Mitt Romney is giving us his promises an ideas like every other presidential candidate has. We really do not know if they will work. Obama sold his ideas to us four years ago that he has not done. Americans should be optimistic and not jump to conclusion. Everyone should watch the vice presidential debate because both Paul Ryan and Joe Biden are economist. It’s going to be a war.

The challenges I feel like that I am facing is where to start my paper. Gathering information is not hard, but thinking about how to stricter the paper is the tuff part. I’m just wondering how will I fit information into a thirty page paper. In elementary and junior high school we learned that when writing a paper there should always be introduction, body and conclusion. Introduction just gives what reader they will expect in your paper and conclusion is your final results. The body is the main part with solid information backing up your points. This may be the hardest part of the paper. It is easy to go off topic and just talk about random things.

Also another challenge is how much information do I need? Will my information be enough? Honest truth the information that I researched it feels like it will be a two page paper. I’m just a little scared to write the paper. I’m going to get away from negativity and stay positive in what I do.

So last week Baruch college sigma alpha delta society held a oxford debate on gun control. The two debaters were Shaina Harrison from New Yorkers Against Gun Violence (NYAGV) and Darin Goens fron National Rifle Association (NRA). The debate was not intense, but Mr Goens from the NRA clearly won the debate. Shaina Harrison was very unprofessional did not have counter arguments and was very rude and mean. This is not the way professional guest acts. Darin Goens on the other hand quality in formation where h stated 2.5 million guns in the US have saved other people from being killed also how Chicago has gun laws for  ten years and after they were taken away gun violence had stopped in the city.

Shaina Hirrison stated a good point a gun makes you feel more powerful. If some one is coming to rob your house and you have gun most likly you will use the gun and not call the police. She also stated we shoud do back round checks. DarinGoens ended up winning the debate. After this debate my thoughts  have changed and I feel it is alright for peopel to have guns.

Hello everyone hope you had a good weekend. I just want to know is anybody still having trouble forming a question because it’s kind of hard for me right now. I know what I want to research and what my question is, but putting it in a nice simple format is mind boggling. Currently I am playing around with my first question should guns be illegal or not? and trying to put in a simple format.

Also the reason why I named this post research freezes because I am currently  at a stop point on my research. There are so many scholarly articles on gun control. They have a variety of information to which is hard to choose from. Another problem is some of them are really long with great information, but at certain points it gets boring. I want solid and good information and not reading a long article hoping it might have facts for my paper.

Hey everyone its Rahad and since last class I took the advice of Professor Kafka and now deciding between my research topics.  I am now narrowing down to two choices either Should guns be legal or not? and to What extent do we follow the second amendment when it comes to gun control?. I am actually leaning towards the first choice because the second amendment goes in to history with rules an regulation.  I typed in the second amendment and gun control in Google and clicked on a Huffington post article. The first three sentences of the article got me so bored because they were talking about James Madison and the Union. I am not trying to write history paper, but something on gun control. I kinda decided what I will write on ,but still being open minded.
