Three Passions

Passion to me are simply things that inspire me, I can’t live without and make me happy. Passions come in different forms for everybody, mine comes through materialistic things. My passions have had a big influence of who I’ve become and a way to express myself. Music, Photography and traveling have all been a big part of my life and I really couldn’t imagine a world without all of these things.

Music has always been a passion of mine since I was 5. It’s been a really big part of my life as I mainly play 3 instruments (Piano, violin, bass, and am currently learning the guitar). A goal that I made when I first entered high school was to listen to more genres because I wanted to be able to listen to a song and think “I hear x,y, and z types of genres or styles of music that influenced this artist.” or “This song has a sample of x,y or z songs”. From then on I made it a point to explore a new genre, artist, or song every day. Since high school ended I’ve mainly been listening to music, due to time constraints, but every chance I get I usually hop on the piano to learn a new song or two.

Photography became a passion of mine in high school when I took my first digital photography class in 10th grade. It was the peak of covid and it was one of the only instances I would go outside and get some fresh air. In 11th and 12th grade, I was able to meet with people who shared the same interest and passion for photography and were actually interested in the class rather than taking it for an easy A. It allowed me to express myself and my view of the world. I’ve become really invested over the past few months in working and figuring out the camera that my dad gave me. It’s been a work in progress but I love the thrill and feeling of joy that I get when I take what I learned and put it into use which results in a good photo that I love. A part of photography that I find kind of annoying is Photoshop just because it can be a long process to edit the photo the way you want it. Not all photos need to be photoshopped but it’s a way to make your pictures more neat and it’s a space where you can really control your photograph.

The last passion I have is traveling. Due to some circumstances, I was able to live in 3 continents and that was exciting for me. I was able to see different cultures, and sights and eat new types of food. Becoming interested in photography and videography had a huge impact on why I wanted to travel more as I wanted to take pictures of new sights and places, like Switzerland which is known for great views, or Canada to see the northern lights. My experiences, have taught me so much and I want to be able to continue to learn about nature and meet new people.

It was really hard trying to figure out 3 passions to write about as I’ve always been a person who likes to try out different things but these were the first three that I felt that I could really write about.

  1. Photography sounds like an interesting passion. I think in photography, the person taking the photo is presenting how the world looks in their eyes, I think the world looks different in everyone’s perspective.
