Personal Writing Statement

During my time in ENG 2100 I’ve completed three major assignments. The first assignment was a personal essay focusing on your relationship with language. The second assignment is a written analysis essay on a snippet of a book, while also focusing on ethos, logos and pathos. The last assignment gave us the freedom to pick any topic to write an argumentative essay about. Normally the form of writing I enjoy the most would be an argumentative essay, but because I picked such a hard topic to have research study on it made the assignment really draining and not fun. So a rare moment in my writing life I enjoyed the written analysis essay on a book the most. The read on the book was really interesting and had me thinking even when class was over. I normally hate reading but the topic was really fascinating, focusing on human behavior.

What I’m most anxious about when writing is getting started. Starting is difficult for me because I’m trying to get all my thoughts down before they leave my brain or when I get my ideas mixed up and scrambled. Research is also something I worry about because they’re so many sources that becomes overwhelming when I’m looking for something specific.

My goal for this class is to be better at formatting my essays and having it sound more professional than like a person blog about the subject. Unless it’s a personal essay, I feel at times I insert small remarks or comments that don’t relate to the assignment. Instead it’s just my thought at the moment that brings humor to the writing.
