Welcome to my website!

My name is Abhinaya Jeyananthan. I am a freshman at Baruch College, CUNY, where I intend to major in Accounting. I was born and raised in Colombo, Sri Lanka. My parents decided to move out of Sri Lanka and go to the USA, specifically Queens, New York in 2010.

Ever since I was brought into the world of New York at the age of 5, I started to feel uncomfortable due to the new people, unfamiliar places, new experiences, new language, etc. Through perseverance and determination, I overcame these challenges, embracing and motivating myself for the better. Living in New York for 14 years, I have learned so many things in my life, but I will always remember the experience of learning a new language and my first language which is English. 

As an undergraduate honors student in Baruch, Baruch is a well-cultured and respected college that offers so many opportunities for one’s career path through various programs and clubs. When I first stepped foot in Baruch during the orientation, I was very fascinated by how “homely” it felt, and meeting new people got me to socialize with them easily. Prior to my studies, I am a Bharatanatyam dancer for about 12 years and love reading books, specifically genres of fantasy and mystery.
