Professional reading group
Are you interested in reading research literature on higher education? Jody Clark Vaisman is organizing a reading group beginning this summer. We are looking for suggestions for research-based articles. Two articles to start us off are listed below:

New Advisement Center Advisor: Stephanie Gika
On Monday, May 23, we will be joined by Ms. Stephanie Gika. Stephanie will be one of our three Senior Academic Advisors. Stephanie is coming to us from New York University, New York, NY, where she served as an Academic Advisor for the Steinhardt, Department of Media, Culture & Communication and NYU’s College of Arts & Science, College Advising Center. Her work at NYU involved, advisement, orientation, freshmen seminar, transfer credit evaluation, academic counseling, and assessment. Stephanie also has experience in the fields of management, marketing, budget and sales having previously worked for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions.
Stephanie holds a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration and Student Personnel from New York University. She has been a co-presenter at college and national conferences on topics such as:
* What’s My Major? An Orientation Activity Exploring the Liberal Arts.
* Get Your Study On: Helping students identify their preferred learning style and strategies to improve note taking and study skills.
* Perspectives on Diversity and Education
* Making Choices: A lesson on business ethics that taught students the importance of reaching group consensus.
