Questions

The future is unpredictable, but people continue to extrapolate and make (educated) guesses about it. Technology has evolved rapidly in the last century, and we should be aware of how much we have adjusted to it. I, too, wonder about the future of technology.

There are a few questions I would like to explore:

How far do people think technology will continue to evolve?

Are the long term effects of new technology necessarily ‘good’ or ‘bad’?

How does the media influence us today and can it be changed?

Will the internet last forever? Is there anything that can top the internet in terms of how often it is used or how prevalent it is?

  1. I think at the moment there’s an interesting speculative bent in your questions. That is, you’re wondering how far technology could go, what (if anything) could replace or “top” the internet? What else can it morph into? Of course, you can only answer these questions with speculation, but I’m sure there are many experts out there more than willing to speculate (As your timeline shows–that’s SO interesting). You could creatively engage with some of these experts and their speculative visions, maybe categorize them (distopian, utopian, etc), and see where you land. What do you think your future holds, in terms of technology, after seeing what some the experts predict. Anyway–these are just some thoughts that jumped to mind as I read your questions.
