Thousand-Oaks-iphone-repair

There are many things i have never tried making before. Whether it would be making, creating, fixing, renovating something, i would chose to change the cracked screen on my iPhone. It is a risky process due to the potential of actually destroying my phone, but it is a process i am willing to go through.

The steps to change the screen on the iPhone are:

1) You need to buy the replacement glass screen from any website on line that sell them. Make sure you don’t buy a screen that is cheap. The screen will break within the first month or so because of the fragile glass the manufacturer uses.

2) Once your Screen is in, prepare all the tools you need to use for the procedure of changing your screen. This includes,

  • The replacement glass you bought
  • A #00 Phillips screwdriver
  • A razor blade, or some sort of scraping tool
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Q-tips
  • A hair dryer or heat gun ( you can buy a cheap one on amazon or Ebay)
  • Double-sided tape
  • Scissors
  • Superglue

3) Before you start, back up your phone by connecting it to your computer and press sync!

4) Look towards the bottom of your iPhone and locate the two screws on either side of the USB connector and unscrew them using the phillips screw driver #00

5) Remove the screen using a razor blade or a scraping tool carefuly.

6) Look for flaps in the top right holding of the screen and phone together. Carefully lift those flaps with the blade or scraping tool.

7) Look for a third sticker under the #2 flap and lift the black “clamp” to release the #3 connection.

8) Once the clamp is lifted, the screen will be free from the rest of the iPhone, so just pull it out.

9) Remove 6 more screws; 5 screws on the side rails,  3 on the side with the flaps, and 2 on the other side. The last screw is in the top right.

10) Separate the LCD using a blade or wedging tool. This will free the LCD from the metal frame.

11) Clean the metal farm from the broken glass carefully without cutting yourself. Make sure you remove every last piece of glass using a scraping tool so the new screen fits snug.

12) Prepare your new screen and add glue or double-sided tape around the edges so the screen fits snug.

13) Reassemble your iPhone by Putting the LCD and glass back together.

14) Put the 6 screw back that you removed earlier.

15) Slide the #3 cable back into the open clamp and then close it.

16) Put the #2 and #1 cables back on by pressing them onto the connector. This should be a simple step.

17) Put the screen back onto the by inserting the top first. Then the side with the connects and finally place the bottom in. Avoid using force. The Screen and LCD should fit nice and snug.

18) Finally put the last 2 screws we removed earlier in step #4 and screw them back in.

19) Your iPhone is set and ready to go!

This should be an interesting procedure! I do have some experience with taking things apart and putting them back together in one piece. This procedure should not be that hard to figure out as long as you follow the steps properly and be fragile with the pieces you are handling. I am going to attempt to fix my broken iPhone screen using the steps i listed and hopefully everything goes right as planned.
