Exhibitions

Lewis Hines, JFK, and Zoe Strauss

at the International Center of Photography

Midnight at the Brooklyn Bridge, 1906strauss_4

October 4, 2013–January 19, 2014                                                                                                 Even though I am not the biggest fan of Zoe Strauss, her photographs are worth seeing because of their raw feel, and because they expose us to another reality, the one of those that are part of the “outcast” of society. An exhibition that makes you think ….  Lewis Hines’ pictures are absolutely beautiful and moving. A great testimony of a time where child labor was a regular thing, the pictures show us the challenges of the people living at the beginning of the century.  His work includes projects on Immigration, New York City, Child labor, and the building of the Empire State Building ! A great lesson of history for us New Yorkers, and  it would be a shame to miss it !

Vermeer, Rembrandt, and Hals: Masterpieces of Dutch Painting from the Mauritshuis at The Frick Collection

You cannot miss this exhibition currently on at the Frick ! Famous paintings by Rembrandt, including Girl with a Pearl Earing are exhibited there until January 19th. Not often do New Yorkers get to see such masterpieces, and it is a duty to go ! If you are familiar with the place, you know there can be some line.  And if you’ve never been to The Frick Collection (what? ), you will probably experience it. But I promise it is all worth it once inside the beautiful Frick’s mansion. So go, go, go !
