SoHo, or as few know it: South of Houston Street. It’s the “it” place, that area where artists, local New Yorkers, tourists, and shopaholics all come together for various reasons. They come to shop, to eat at the trendy and super expensive restaurants, or to drink at the nearby bars. They come to check out the little art galleries here and there, and to take a stroll along the cobblestone streets with a cup of coffee in hand on a date night out.
You probably think you know SoHo just by how you look at it or how others describe it as. But the truth is, do you really know the truth?
This blog was created to recognize and inform others about the history behind what made SoHo into the place that it is today. So much has changed since the beginning; in fact, the SoHo that we know today has only been around for about fifty years. The blog explores its evolution based on time period, from the colonial times in the 1600s to the present day.
