Facebook and the Disconnect…

As an avid user of Facebook, I began using it in 2009 after finding that most of my friends and family share interesting things about their lives on a daily basis. It has helped me to become more integrated with friends and family, while keeping a busy schedule through work and school.

As most may know, holding a job while attending school can become very hectic on one’s life. For a period of time, this negatively affected my personal life as I came to spend less time with family and friends. By utilizing the features of Facebook, I was able to keep up with all my friends and family, while also sharing bits of my life.

In the coming years, I see Facebook evolving into an integrated platform for social media, video chatting, meeting room for friends, or even project teams.

Based on my experience of using most social media, I strongly believe that it can possibly create a disconnect in adolescent lives since young people would be spending a lot of time using social media instead of having face to face conversations.
