Monologue

Sleepy. I feel so sleepy. It is as if any whole body is frozen like thick ice. I wish I could go to my comfortable abode and sleep for a long time. Too bad I can not sleep in this class. Sleepy. I am very sleepy. When will this class end?

10. Dance with me-Dean Martin

As a freshman in Baruch College it is my duty to demonstrate who I am and where I come from. The term “to be” is a verb. It means that life is continuous and ever-changing. My musical playlist reflects my changing tastes in genres of music. I believe that music takes us to higher dimension or another world. With the heart of each beat, you feel you are right at home. My first song is “Little Garcon” by Born Ruffians. This song is a very special song. It has the innate ability to transport me to a different state. I feel like I am in dream world. The second song is “Golden” by Fall Out Boy. When I listen to this song I think about the past memories that have shaped me into who I am. Two songs that are “Every teardrop is a Waterfall” and “Viva la Vida” by the same artist named Coldplay. Coldplay are a British rock band formed in 1996 by lead vocalist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland at University College London. The two songs make me have a joyous mood in life’s possibilities. It also helps me to explore my imagination deeply.    The next song is “You found me” by The Fray. The Fray is an American piano rock band from Denver, Colorado. Formed in 2002 by schoolmates Isaac Slade and Joe King, they achieved success with the release of their debut album, How to Save a Life in 2005, which was certified double platinum by the RIAA and platinum in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. The Fray achieved national success with their first single, “Over My Head (Cable Car)”, which became a top ten hit in the United States. When I feel disappointment and heartbreak I listen to this song. In a Reuter’s article, Isaac Slade, the lead singer and pianist, stated that the lyrics for “You Found Me” were written in 2007, and that the song asks about the problem of evil, why bad things happen to good people, after some of their friends and family went through very tough times. Another favorite song by the same artist is “How to Save a Life”.  This song is helps to think of inspiring memories that courageous people have made in people’s lives. It also means that I could also make a difference in a person.  The rest of my playlist are classic songs such as “Fly me to the moon”, “Come fly with me”, by Frank Sinatra and “Dance with Me” by Dean Martin. What set these songs apart from others is because of its time. I love when Frank Sinatra sings the many lyrics that pull me to his world. An age of club hopping and big band jazz. Although not as popular as Sinatra, Dean Martin has also played a vital role in in this genre of music.  With signature songs such as “Memories Are Made of This”, “That’s Amore”, “Everybody Loves Somebody”, and “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You”,” He was nicknamed “King of Cool”.  This is  taste of my collection of songs  that I truly cherish with care.
