An interesting example of Flash content is Snapple’s website, which is located here. The website’s opening instantly amazes me. It has an elaborate 3-dimensional map of all the locations that inspired Snapple’s products. The map has Africa, China, England, India, and New York City on it. If you click on each place, you will be able to zoom into it and see some of the famous landmarks in that area. Then you will be given the opportunity to click on specific Snapple drinks that originated from those places. Another pro of this website are the warm colors and the upbeat music.
Although the content is overall very impressive, I do not like the zooming in of the places too much. It makes me dizzy because the zooming is so fast that it makes some parts blurry. I also get bored of clicking on the Snapple products because there are so many of them that look similar to each other.
The website conveys the message that Snapple is “made from the best stuff on earth.” The scenery is astounding, as well as the music. It gives the sense that Snapple is not an ordinary drink because of its exotic origins. Though I do not agree that Snapple is the best drink, the Flash animation does a splendid job of promoting Snapple.
I really like this website. I thought the zooming was pretty cool. The 3D is also impressive. I wonder what 3d program they used. They captured each country very well. It was fun to go through each one and explore.
I found a new Snapple that I want to try, but I haven’t seen it in stores! (English Breakfast black tea)
I am also not a big fan of Snapple, but I really enjoyed their 3d animation.
I enjoyed the Snapple website simply because it was easy to navigate. A lot of flash websites these days are over done and complicated. The graphics had an easy transition on every link you clicked. Also the 3d graphics which I’m not sure if derived from flash but it looks clean for a flash website that loaded rather quickly. The darkening of the background every time a link is displayed is very clever. It puts emphasis on the link and makes it easier for my eyes to read. Overal I enjoyed this site. Good find.
I really like this website. I enjoyed browsing and following along with the flash. It feels like I’m traveling around the world. I thought the music matched very well with the different countries. I also like the 3d visuals a lot. I think the New York section has the most interactive component to click on. They captured the essence of different cultures of each country and presented it very well to the audience. For example, in Africa, they guide you through a wild life place where as in China, they used the ancient buildings and places where green tea grows. In New York, the subway and the buildings reminded me of Times Square and life in the city. Thanks for sharing this great website!
Wow, this is really an impressive website. There’s a lot going on but they spread it out in a way that doesn’t seem too complicated. This would definitely keep your attention on the site for longer than 5 minutes with all the things and “places” you can explore. It’s almost as if you’re playing a game.
My favorite location is (obviously) New York. I like how it gives you “notable Snapple locations” around the NYC area.
Probably the only downside is for anyone who isn’t in or around these immediate places that they showcase.
I am very impressed with the Snapple website. I like the beginning that almost starts off like a fairy tale…Once upon a time, in a far away land. It is great to have the experience of seeing bits and pieces of different cultures and this website offers some of that. I especially like the one on Africa where all the animals appear as the the graphics zoom into the Snapple stand. This is a great web page and I hope I am able to create something like this one day.
I like all the flash that they use on this site and it feels like an exploring game going through this website. Every time I click on something, I’ll go inside something new. I usually has a problem with this kind of website because I don’t know which icon to click that will get me somewhere without scrolling around each icon to see if this was it. This site solves the problem by having a whitish, glowing circle next to the icon that could get you somewhere. I like the color they used for this site, very comfortable for the eye. On the first page, they make it easier for the user to navigate by separating each region both visually and literally.
