More Than Just Pepsi

When it comes to drinking coke, I always prefer to drink Pepsi over Coca Cola. I think Pepsi tasted crispier than Coca Cola. Anyway, this is just my opinion. But, I like to introduce everyone to the Pepsi’s website because it uses many flash animations. Especially, when you first enter the website, you will notice that there are many flashing icons moving at once to entertain you while the website is loading. The website itself also had its own theme of websites, which they use cover flow with flashing icons (in the background) to stand out for each theme to promote what are some of the things the company is trying to achieve or accomplished.

Overall, I enjoy going to the website and listening to the music in the background gave me the groove to drink Pepsi. The ocean blue color was a great choice; the shadow was used properly when you wanted to click on the button for each category, and fonts were readable with comfort with gradient color from light to dark for each button but when you point to the button, it has a lighten effect to make the button brighter. I hope we will be able to learn some of this flash animation in class.

  1. I agree with you on one thing. The colors match. I really didn’t like this website. There is nothing special about it. I think it’s a very simple flash website with simple animations of drop down menus and interactive website galleries. I didn’t like the fact that almost every option you choose takes you out of the website to a different website. Overall, I think it is a really bad website.

  2. I disagree completely, Liat.

Sometimes its best to keep things simple. Pepsi integrated the arrows on the right and left side of the page with the sections on the top of the page, which is great. The drop-down menu gives the website more of a modern “web 2.0” feel, especially in conjunction with shadowing the page when you are using the menu on top. Just because it doesn’t use elaborate things in flash doesn’t mean it’s not a good website. Sometimes the simplest things are the best.

I think pepsi did a great job on creating the website, especially after you visit cocacola.com.

  3. Pepsi did a great job with their website. It’s easy to navigate, clean, and simple. But not so simple that its like coke’s website. They seem to really lack creativity compared to Pepsi’s site. Just like Pepsi, the website is crisp and clean.
