Weekly Blogging 10 – due May 15

For this week’s blogging, provide yourself, and your classmates, some constructive feedback on your interactive slide shows.

First, leave a comment on your own slide show. Discuss what you did; what do you think works particularly well? What could use more attention? Did you accomplish the goal you set for yourself? In what ways?

Next, leave a comment on someone else’s slide show. Again, what works well? what could use more attention? What do you take away from that other slide show that you might apply in your own work?

  1. I thought that my slideshow came out better than I imagined because I just had a basic layout in mind that was enough to get me a C. I was undecided about using a black background but most of the slideshows had black as their background so while viewing the presentations in class, I was thinking that I should have gone with black. My decision on colors was the biggest challenge for me. I started off wanting black then went on to having colors brighter than the pictures and finally settled on some more calming colors that would make my brightly colored pictures the focus point which was the intended goal. While viewing my slideshow on this website, I saw that the text seemed to be out of order for my liking now. They were supposed to be random facts but I found myself trying to create a story line while I was viewing it this time with the linear buttons. I thought the stars were too much at first but I didn’t want a plain look for the slideshow so I left them in and added a glow effect to some of them. Apart from these 2 mishaps, everything else seems fine to me.

Linda Chan’s slideshow is one of my favorites from class. She was one that used black as her background color and that worked well with her pictures. She has some amazing shots of couples in love. The thing that stands out the most for me though is the song. I seriously listened to it like 6 or 7 times while writing this blog. What is the name and artist? (if you read this blog) I admire her for using her own drawing skills to make the design for the layout. I wanted to do that but I just didn’t know what to do. The flashing hearts were a cute touch that went with the theme. The only thing that needs work would be the buttons. She could have an effect on them to let the viewer know that the smiley faces do something and aren’t just part of the design. Overall, an awesome job!
