Posting SWFs to the blog

0. Note your movie’s dimensions (width x height, in pixels)

1. Save your movie with a name that is both unique to you and follows web conventions (NO SPACES, NO FUNNY CHARACTERS IN THE FILE NAME) – for example, [movieZss.fla] or [movie-zss.fla] are OK, but [movie Zss.fla] or [movie.Zss.fla] or [movieZ$$.fla] are not valid file names

2. Create an SWF file of the movie.

3. Log into the blog and create a new post

4. Enter a title for your post

5. In the Add Media area, click the icon that looks like the sun to get to the uploader. Choose the SWF file that you want to upload. (UPLOAD SWFs ONLY, DO NOT UPLOAD FLAs TO THE BLOG)

6. Click ‘Upload’ to upload your SWF file to the blog server.

7. In the ‘Link URL’ field, highlight the entire URL and Edit>Copy to copy it into memory. Close the upload window to return to the post.

8. In the post formatting area, click the button with the ‘f’ in it; this is the ‘Kimili Flash embed’ widget.

9. In the pop-up window, Edit>Paste the URL of your file. Click OK.

10. In the next pop-up windows, type in your file’s dimensions – first width then height, clicking OK after each. When you are done, a piece of code will be inserted into your post.

11. In the inserted code, change the word ‘transparent’ to ‘opaque’. Don’t change any other element of the code unless you know what you’re doing.

12. Add text to post, either before or after the inserted code, if you want. Choose the appropriate category for your post.

13. Click ‘Save’ to save post, then ‘Preview this post’, which opens the post in a new window. Verify that the post looks right (or not). Then close the window to return to the post editor.

14. If the Preview was fine then click ‘Publish’, otherwise make adjustments, save and preview again, until all is well, and you’re ready to Publish.

Shazam! Your SWF appears in the blog post!
