slide show comments
My slide show was the one that showed hope. In order to obtain the the photos, I send out a facebook message to my friends and asked them to send in images that they believed showed a hope for hard times. Few replied, but I was able to make a small slide show out of the images received. I am pretty satisfied at the way the slide show turned out. I wanted it to be simple and kind of stylish at the same time. The complicated slideshows frustrated me in the past, so I decided a simple one would be best, without the long intro that everyone would have to see every time they came back to see it. They only thing that i would’ve liked to do was a sliding thumbnail gallery instead of the lines of photos. I believe it would’ve given the slideshow more control in terms of design.
I liked the slideshow that had the sliding thumbnail gallery in the roll of film, although it was a bit fast and hard to control. With that, I also enjoyed the transitions of the slideshow showing the road to school by a girl and the various things she would see. The layout was unique and the control was pretty intuitive and again unique.
Is anime an artform?
In order to effectively answer this question, we would need to define the term “art form” and build from there. Looking at dictionaries, there are multiple definitions of the term art, and in this case, I would like to define the art form as a creative expression that tangibly or intangibly gives us a means to understand/see/hear, one’s own or the greater societies, religious/cultural/personal beliefs and or values.

Great SlideShow
http://eu.wrangler.com/ The Europian Wrangler site has a great flash slideshow interface to show off the latest fashions. The most notable aspect to the slideshow on this site can be seen on the denim and footwear section. The scrolling is down by a pushing or pulling interactivity that allows the user to move across the different products at his/her own pace.
Blogging 5
This weeks review of good and bad banners was quite challenging. First, finding a site that used flash banners aren’t the easiest to find. But once you looked around, finding good ones could be seen in any of the major goods and service providers. The most interesting of these was the SKITTLES website (www.skittles.com) where you are met with not really a website but just a a index/header box asking for your age. Looking into this, you are taken to what seems like a youtube profile page for skittles. Further research into the skittles strategy showed that this header/index page could be found in a number of social networking sites such as twitter (twitter.com/skittles) and that was the extent of the page. This shows how skittles is on the forefront of consumer cooperation. Although the success of the strategy is debateable, it is certainly an interesting way to approach the use of banner/header and a website.
A not so effective banner was the Yamaha site (http://www.global.yamaha.com/index.html). I chose this only because the picture of the piano on the site seemed out of focus and I believe it should atleast be focused. Other than that, it is a simple but effective menu option, and i’m not even sure it counts as a banner other than that, it is the first graphic material on the page.
Second lives Post
The Japanese have a business philosophy that one extraordinary mind would (in most cases) not be as successful as a group of ten ordinary people working together. The Second Life exhibit of the Museum of Arts and Design showed example of the beauty of ordinary and everyday objects coming together to create extraordinary items. What is the relationship between the part and the whole? I believe the answer lies within the question being asked. A part is segment of something. In other words, a part is a lack of completeness to create a whole and the many items at the Second Life exhibit showed creative ways to see new “wholes” for these parts. Continue reading

Flash Content?
I came across this site awhile ago, while looking for an interesting game that I was thinking about buying. I was quite angry at the way the site was setup at first. The content was too confusing and there was just too much stuff going on for me to understand what I needed to do or what I was supposed to do. After a bit for fiddling around with the site, I eventually figured out what I needed to do to get some information and found the site to be quite a feat.
While thinking about what content I would’ve liked to put up, I went through my usual list of sites but could find nothing that I thought was very intersting. I then remebered this site and visited it again, to be once again barraged and assaulted with so many things, but I believe that it is quite an interesting take and one of a kind as of now.
