Krazy!:A Serious Art Form
During my visit to the Japan Society, I learned that anime is a serious art form. The word “anime” is taken from half of Japanese language meaning animation, and anime can be released by television broadcast, video, and online. That is why Japanese anime is very popular and well known all over the world for their animation in term of their style, sound, and character design. Continue reading
Slideshow Comments
For my slideshow project, I created my favorite doll collection called Momiji. I accomplished a lot in this project because I used many techniques to complete each scene. In the first scene, I created music buttons that can play, pause and stop the music throughout the scene. The second, third, fourth and fifth scenes also use buttons to link to different scene by using the same circle shape to create the apple, flower, sun and tree. I also use motion and shape tween to create the butterfly and flower, which I liked very much. I think it fits very well in my slideshow.
Furthermore, the slideshow I enjoyed watching was the one with the slider of rolling film strip at the bottom with many thumbnail photos. I liked the way she created the effect of the rain and the puddle of water in each photograph. The “Singing In The Rain” song fits greatly in slideshow. I would like to learn and take away from was the actionscript of the rolling film slider, which I think I would use in my future project.

Slideshow
There was this slideshow I found on Sitewelder.com that I thought it was very simple slideshow of photography with plain text on the left corner, a play and pause button on the far right corner, and the slider with different small photograph buttons were located at the bottom of the flash stage. The slider was easy to navigate around, and you can open any photo you want to see. But unfortunately, I did not use any of these elements in my photo slideshow because I had my own idea for my slideshow. However, I will try to use these elements in my future slideshow when I created one.
Flash-Based Banners
There are two wedding flash banners that I think one working extremely well and the other one still need work in progress. The one that work successfully is Disney Weddings because this banner contains many elements for wedding couples to plan their wedding with different categories listed one side. The other side shows a flash movie with background music, and text were included to introduce how Disney is going to help the couple to plan there wedding day. In which, I feel Disney has a very strong concept to promote their wedding planning. Meanwhile, the banner in Your Wedding Day Online can be work on a little more because I think they can add a background music with an on and off button. At the same time, I think this magazine company should include a little message or a catch line in the other side of the logo. This way, people will know a bit more of what this banner is advertising. Most of all, a successful banner should be eye catching and state its purpose out just like Disney Weddings because this is the first thing people see when they visit your website.
Second Lives Essay
Second Lives: Remixing the Ordinary was a wonderful exhibition for me to see. There were so many different kinds of artworks that I had never seen before, not because I never seen art, but each of the artwork was created with different kinds of materials. These materials can be found in our environment. Starting from a line of hair all the way to a big piece of furniture. They all started off as an original piece itself, but then they were used and become part of the artwork created by talented artistic to finish as a whole. The relationship between the part and the whole was very important because without the part, there will be no whole. Continue reading

Think Green
Think Green is a waste management website that teaches about recycling and what can we do to help protect our environment. It make me want to learn more about recycling and how effective it is when each and one of us participate in it. The flash animation was guiding me each step of the way by using sound as the background environment with a tour guide who spoke along as I am reading the facts. The gray stage color was used perfectly. I like how they use the light effect shining on the pear. The pear also changes every time you click on the new facts to show the process of decomposing the pear.
The educational animation actually have many facts to support what they said as I mention before that they used tour guide to teach and guide you along with graphic image and movie clip in the animation. You can also learn about the positive and negative side of the topic. In which, it is different from selling animation because they will probably just show the best of what their product will offer you. For example, in the Pepsi’s website, the company will design movie clip for specific group of consumer who will purchase their product.
Most of all, I think this is a great website to learn about the environment. Especially, this is a place we are all living on.
More Than Just Pepsi
When it comes to drinking coke, I always prefer to drink Pepsi over Coca Cola. I think Pepsi tasted crispier than Coca Cola. Anyway, this is just my opinion. But, I like to introduce everyone to the Pepsi’s website because it uses many flash animations. Especially, when you first enter the website, you will notice that there are many flashing icons moving at once to entertain you while the website is loading. The website itself also had its own theme of websites, which they use cover flow with flashing icons (in the background) to stand out for each theme to promote what are some of the things the company is trying to achieve or accomplished.
Overall, I enjoy going to the website and listening to the music in the background gave me the groove to drink Pepsi. The ocean blue color was a great choice; the shadow was used properly when you wanted to click on the button for each category, and fonts were readable with comfort with gradient color from light to dark for each button but when you point to the button, it has a lighten effect to make the button brighter. I hope we will be able to learn some of this flash animation in class.
