Anime is Serious Art
Anime is far more than just a serious art form. It is one of the few arts that incorporate other aspects of art. As opinionated as it may sound, anime is by far one of the most intriguing arts created. After the afternoon visit to KRAZY at Japan Society, the structure of the museum stood out because it portrayed the anime world or the Japanese world. Anime reveals the Japanese culture in a cartoon world. People may think that anime is just another form of cartoons, but just like cartoons, anime has pre-drawn sketches, paintings, etc. Another words, anime is carefully planned out before it is set as an animated world and broadcasted on television. If it was not serious art, then paintings of cartoon characters or all of those abstract paintings would not be considered serious art. Continue reading
Tiff’s Final Project Proposal
It’s nearing the end of the semester now, and I’m almost graduating. Twenty-two years down the road, I have finally realized that my life has changed drastically. I’m not who I used to be, and I doubt I’ll go back to whoever I was back then. However, it’s always good to go down memory lane once in a while and laugh at the fool I used to be. For the final project, I would like to make a slideshow that will tell a story of my life. I am not sure how exactly will the slideshow look, but the audiences should be able to tell a story from looking at it. This is more of an inspirational and emotional slideshow, as opposed to the food slideshow I made for the previous project, which was more geared towards introducing a specific topic to the audience. It was more of my “interest” and did not mean anything. The final project will mean something, and it is for the audience to find out. It will contain several button, scenes, animation, text, photos, pictures, etc.

Lexus Slideshow
This slideshow is on one of my favorite cars. The Lexus Slideshow. The interesting thing is that at the beginning, there is a percentage counter, which is something that most buffering movies have. So another words, this is a slideshow/ movie type of slideshow. All of the images are simple, but it all relates to the Lexus. Everything is in order, starting out with the luxurious car itself, followed by the interior, followed by the features, and the engine. The transition is kind of too fast, and it fades in and out. Overall, I think it’s too fast. If I was to buy this car, I would look at this slideshow for information on the look, but not essential information.
Good and Bad
The flash header on the NBA store’s website, located on 5th Ave., is an example of a good flash header. The images are clear. The timing of the transitions are good. There’s also a pause button on the bottom right corner if your head starts to spin while looking at the images play itself over and over again. Also, you can choose to look through or stop looking at the pictures being presented in the flash header.
On the other hand, the header for NFL’s website, is just plain boring. There is movement, but just a few frames in the timeline. It’s stiff and doesn’t do much, except show the vibration symbols that come out slow. The site’s awesome to track scores, but the header’s very boring.
Second Lives – Tiff
Walking in the museum gave no sense of anything special. The Museum of Arts and Design looked like any normal company office, with less people. Everything was simple, clean and spotless. Then the elevator took me up to the 5th floor, which held the Carolyn S. and Matthew Bucksbaum Galleries. Took a step out, and I felt as if I’ve entered into a new world. Everything was made out of what people use on a daily basis. Looking at all the designs around me, I realize that the relationship between the part and the whole is that we can always get the parts from the whole, but we can also get the whole from parts as well. People don’t usually think like that. Continue reading

Car that sells and teaches?
I personally have a unusually big interest in cars, so I’m often browsing through car sites. A while ago, I came across the new BMW website. It’s always changing. I’m well aware that this blog is supposed to be of a flash teaching site, and not on a flash site that sells. This site, not only sells, but it also guides you through all the aspects and business of BMW’s corporation. The site opens to a page with four options. Or rather, you can just sit there and stare at the beautiful flash background. Four options are self-explanatory. One cool thing about the main page is that the site would go to its “energy saving” mode when it’s not in use, and makes this cool “shut down” sound. Try it, leave the main page alone for a few, and it’ll turn to its energy-saving mode. When you click on BMW USA, which is what I would click to check out what’s in stock here or what types of cars there are, another window would open up. On this page, you’ll find a “Build Your Own” link on the bottom, and other options. All of these options each have its own purposes and teaches the customer steps to getting what they want or what they’re looking for. The colors are fresh, mainly blue and white. Also good to the eyes. The sounds vary. I particularly like the energy-saving sound, because that came out of nowhere. The flash images are cleverly spaced out and also, its timelines are all in harmony with one another. This is site is cool. Check it out.
Tennis or not
I’ve been on and off this site for a long time. The opening page, the introduction to this site, is simple. When I first came across this site, it took me a while to finish roaming the entire site. However, it wasn’t the complexity that made me stay on that long. It was the simple, but attractive features used in the site. The flash used is amazing. From that, I can tell that it’s definitely a professional website, with professional designers behind working on it here and there. Another thing is the perfect timing in every flash content. Whether it’s the blinking or the transitions, the flash content is well organized. Also, the color used is also eye-catching as well, which is the whole purpose of having this site on the internet in the first place. Great marketing strategy. The colors, the tints used, the color transformation used on every category, are all interesting. I play tennis, so this site is interesting to me to begin with, but even if you don’t play tennis, you’ll be amazed. There’s more, take a look.
