A walk through “The Death Factory” (Auschwitz)

The following are a select few photos from my trip to the Auschwitz concentration camp in Oswiecim, Poland.

* the pictures are in no specific order, they were taken on the grounds of two extant parts of the camp which required a bus ride from one to the other.

These photographs are incredibly eery, as they should be, but some of them are also incredibly beautiful. I am in awe of these photographs, they tell a very powerful story. The more compelling ones for me are the ones without people in them. Thank you for sharing these.

Haunting and evocative images. As powerful as the war photography we’ve been viewing in class. The silence is deafening.

These photos made me speechless. I had read a book called Night in highschool which was about the Holocaust. Your images definitely capture that ambiance of terror and uncertainty; I almost felt as if I were there. As Professor Antmann said “haunting”

  4. Thanks for your feedback I really appreciate it. In all honesty the pictures do my trip to Aushwitz no justice. There’s is really no preparing for what your going to see because the amount of history you are surrounded by is mind-blowing. It was a humbling experience to say the least but it was also filled with sadness at the same time. All you have to do is put yourself in the shoes of all the hopeless vĂctims and you will hopefully understand what I mean. I hope you enjoy the pictures aesteically but more importantly the history they carry with them.
