National Theatre Will Stream NT Live Productions For Free on YouTube

The National Theatre has announced its new initiative, NATIONAL THEATRE AT HOME providing access to content online to serve audiences in their homes. Audiences around the world can stream NT Live productions for free via YouTube, and students and teachers have access to The National Theatre Collection at home, delivered in partnership with Bloomsbury Publishing.

From Thursday 2 April, a number of productions previously screened in cinemas globally as a part of National Theatre Live will be made available to watch via the National Theatre’s YouTube channel. More…

American Theatre: New York’s Downtown Theatre Stars Find a Way to Give Back

NEW YORK CITY: Broadway artists have had their living-room extravaganza to benefit the Actors’ Fund. But what about New York’s Off-Broadway, Off-Off-Broadway, and downtown artists, especially those living paycheck to paycheck, and in all too many cases below the poverty line?

That’s where the Trickle Up comes in. This new “grass-roots subscription platform” will feature a curated group of established artists, who will share videos of solo performances, conversation, and other behind-the-scenes goodies, and donate the proceeds to other New York theatre and performance artists in need. Theatre Without Theater

Theatre Without Theater is an Instagram account started by 3 theater artists to honor the productions that have been cancelled or postponed during this time, with the work shared every evening at “curtain time” of 7:30pm. The platform was created 5 days ago and the response has been beyond exciting – there are already over 4,000 followers and we were featured in the New York Times on March 17.

Canada’s National Arts Centre and Facebook will pay musicians for livestreams

The National Arts Centre has teamed up with Facebook to offer artists a paid alternative to the livestreaming they’re already doing. The Facebook-National Arts Centre Fund for Performing Artists will provide $100,000 in artists fees to support online performances.

The first in the #CanadaPerforms series, which will run on NAC’s Facebook page, will take place Thursday, March 19 at 2 pm EST. Blue Rodeo frontman Jim Cuddy and his Jim Cuddy Band will be joined by Devin Cuddy, Sam Polley and Colin Cripps. The artists will perform in a studio and stand 1.5 metres apart from each other.

Other early performances include Serena Ryder, William Prince, Irish Mythen, Erin Costelo and Whitehorse. More…
