Journal Entry One

Since the age of five I’ve worked with my parents and siblings to run the family business.  I would get an allowance and save every bit I could, holding on to my money so tenaciously that my brothers would poke fun, calling me cheap.  Both of my parents were immigrants who came to America to provide us with opportunities and ultimately to live the dream.  Without my early exposure to money and sales my interests might have been somewhat different but my leader like attributes would not have changed.

When I was fifteen my father passed away from cancer, eliminating all of the guarantees that I had envisioned life to offer.  From then on it was I and my older brother who worked hard to help make ends meet alongside our mother of course.   My values and beliefs are somewhat liberal; my thoughts somewhat conservative; my actions somewhat in the middle.

I expect to be enlightened during my college experience, not only in the physical context of class and textbooks but also in those that may be more abstruse to comprehend at first or those that are theoretically abstract.  College is another of many stepping-stones in my life.  With the educational experiences provided and my earlier life experiences I will be capable of achieving my first of many goals; graduate school for my MBA.

As the first semester continues to progress I will continue to acclimate and adjust to Baruch and college in general.  My hopes will be held high and my expectations higher.
