Grind Time

I have never really been , for the lack of a better word, a supporter of the fine arts or new media arts. My friends who went to Murrow High school for performing arts and talent have taken me to museums and art galleries to educate me upon the subject of art. At the Museum of Modern Art I have seen great statues of greek gods and goddesses. I have also looked at portraits and paintings of anthropologic art which was interesting. The short times that I have spent at museums kind of made me appreciate art a little bit more. These creative people took time to develop these nice piece support themselves financially with their work which I give props too. Doing what you love and getting paid for it is awesome.

I think that I am creative enough when I apply myself to a certain task or objective. For example in literature class I really tried to go beyond what the author wrote. I try to understand the message being sent to the reader. In art, I want to be that kind of abstract author that you can guess several scenarios going on in my work. Something that is fresh, colorful, philosophical and most importantly to me. it has to be clever. Young and old artist have access to the proper tools in order to make their artwork come to life and that is my intention. There is no limit to what an artist can do and there aren’t any filters. I will speak freely and also let my art make people talk.

In the passage “The Medium is the Massage” I extracted different ideologies and thoughts. As I was reading every paragraph made me questioned certain beliefs’ and aspects I have grown to know. It felt as if the author was demonizing technology and different types of objects he refers to as technology such as the invention of the ‘Child”. In the paragraph describing “you” there was a feeling of deception by the media to the citizens. I derived that I am brainwashed by propaganda through the evil facilitation of technology.

When speaking about family that author says that mom and dad are not the good source of information anymore. The kids are googling info and watching scientific programs to become informed. Parents can no longer verify the truth to their kids.

Friends and neighbors are not really friends and neighbors anymore. Technology has been dividing many people as well as people don’t continue to pursue friendships anymore.

We are taught to hate. We are taught to do as everyone else does and confirm to societies means through new liberalized education. Education is easily accessible through the Internet. It is easier to spread ideas and control thought.

People are losing their jobs because these machines and computer are replacing them. More anxiety and depression surfaces when a parent is nervous thinking about their family’s future. Human service has been exchanged for technological advances.

The Government as always is telling the people what is the right way of living. The freedom of choice is an illusion that is well cloaked by smiling politicians and false promises. The new form of politics is here but people are either to ignorant or uninformed about the government agenda.

The “others” are knowledgeable about our personal and professional lives. Every post or picture on social media is thoroughly analyzed by “friends or followers” to use for their personal advantage. There is no more privacy.

We are slaves. We let technology control us. Although it’s many flaws, technology has improved our lives too. From discovering faster and safer ways to build castles and walls in the 19^th century to orbiting space and exploring new planets, we have moved forward in our pursuit of greatness.
