I couldn’t post a multimedia link when I’m criticizing multimedia, so this here is a nice infographic:

Only pictures and words. Totally acceptable.

I LOVE this article, graphic, chart or whatever you want to call it. So many thoughts came to mind and I could see many different research papers emerging from this idea. What particularly caught my eye in the info graphic was the “adult gadget over time” graph. I find it very interesting how the only technological device that is in decline is the desktop computer. I wonder why only the desktop was replaced (by laptop of course,) why haven’t new technologies emerged to replace other modes (cell phones, mp3 players etc).
When just glancing at the visual of the clock, I was shocked. Imagine if at this rate our obsession with the media continues-how many hours a day would we spend glued to watching media. Will we ever look at tangible texts anymore or will it all be via technology? Will our children and grandchildren even know what reading a piece of paper is? Furthermore, I wonder if now in museums, stores, and libraries for example, will everything be paperless. Will we be staring at screen for information or blue lights for the latest news? Maybe this will cause us to increase our consumption of media to more than 12 hours a day which is a scary thought.
