The media has become so involved in our day to day lives, without it, we loose a sense of connectivity. Society has always relied on media for communication and for the widespread of news. It is scary to think that we rely so much on the media as a community, and as individuals. Reading this article made me re think about my opinions on it. Media is great for sharing and connecting people from all over the world. It makes us feel closer and larger, in this not so small world. Ideas are more creativity shown through media and through it we gain greater sense of freedom of expression. But the downfall, which I recently discovered is the feeling of being “too close”, when you can availably see the daily lives of others, you begin to compare your success to others. You start to question yourself and your accomplishments. But media is selective, so when you compare these selective output to your overall self, many question arises. For me, I become doubtful of my own potential. They creates illusions that we often fall deep into. We become addicted and obsessive when it comes to hearing the latest news, who’s wearing what and etc. Media helps bring people together and allows us to express ourselves creatively but at the same time can restrict us from individuality.
