During this break I found myself watching Spider-man and coming to realize I wanted to write my paper on genetic enhancing. I believe that most people would agree when I say that after watching a super hero in action on a movie screen at the end we come out wanting to be them. Peter Parker was bit by a genetically enhanced spider therefore his genes then transformed and became amazing. He got back perfect vision, enhanced senses, had immense strength, and could shoot webs out of his wrists. If there was such a program that could enhance my genes I would sign up in a heartbeat. However, what is shown in Spider-man is not reality. I come to realize through different articles and analyses by professors that genetic enhancement is not that simple not only on a scientific level but generally speaking. I plan to speak to you, Professor Kaufman to see if this idea is valid for the research paper. And if it is my digital component would either be a video or a 3D printing.
I was thinking of comparing how people who want their genes enhanced view their lives in comparison with for example Peter Parker’s life. And then switching it showing how it would be if reality took over the movie and then comparing that to the normal human’s life. I wanted to use actual Spider-man scenes to do this but I’m still not sure if it’s possible.
For the 3D printing I was just thinking of maybe doing half of Spider-man’s masked face and the other half sort of like genes in the shape of a human face with tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, and power tools in the midst of them.
Both of these ideas to me seem a little ambitious because I’m not talented but hopefully I can make it work if the ideas are valid.Thank you!
