(inspired by Roland Barthes’ “To the Seminar”)

1. Respect the opinions of others: In this seminar we listen to and respect everyone’s voice in order to have a positive discussion. In this seminar everyone’s viewpoints are respected and no one should ever be afraid to speak their mind. The content of this course will mostly be discussions and sharing (stories, ideas, thoughts, opinions, etc.) Free Pass- each student has the right to refuse to read their writing our loud 1x per week.
2. Students vote, out of options given by the teacher, what the assignments will be. (However, if the students are not participating at the same level the teacher is, the teacher makes the decisions.)
3. In this seminar, we value clarity. We will use our class blog as a forum to make sure all assignments are clear. We love questions and will not hesitate to ask them.
4. In this seminar, we will work as a team; valuing companionship and group work. We will always remember to challenge each other (Baby Giraffe Philosophy).
5. In this seminar we will use technology to promote discussion about current events and trending topics. We will also use technology to supplement ideas that come up in class as long as it is productive to the discussion.
6. In this seminar, the classroom space will be both inside and outside.
