NO-CARD

There can never be too much extra credit <3

So yeah, extra credit assignment blog, hooray!! 🙂

Last week, LC13 went and listened to two authors in a row, Colm Toibin and Edgar Keret. To be honest, I really did NOT like Colm Toibin at all, because all he did was summarize his book (or at least thats what I heard, if I’m wrong then my bad……)

Edgar Keret was very amusing and I liked some of the things that he said.

One of them was: “I’m sure anyone who lives in this world can see the darkness of it, even those who live in the light can see the dark spots

That sounded really deep and i wanted to hear more from him. He is very respectable and funny where as Toibin sounded dull (although i liked his accent).

I feel like Toibin had no creativity whereas Keret had so much creativity i swear i could’ve seen a double rainbow on a starlit sky in that conference room. (not literally of course, or else i could be crazy)

Now, about that last paper……

The idea of it is nice, I am SOOOO looking forward to using that 3d printer for our assignments. Well, not actually USING it (like personally,) but to have something like that for a project/paper is pretty cool 🙂

My topic is the world’s technological dependency, problem is, I’m not 100% sure on what to narrow it down to. I prefer it to be something unique, and not as common as what you would see everyday (i.e smartphones, ipods, etc). As I put more thought into it, I am very confident that once I actually get on track with my brain (which rarely ever happens) my assignment will come out really well.

Looking forward to it!!

Esssayyyyyys suck

i am going crazy about this essy. i dont like essays, especially if its over one page. (yes i know, im very lazy when it comes to writing. im more of a practical person when it comes to activities. i just get restless when it comes to sitting down for over an hour and thinking about how annoying and tedious writing can be. but enough about ranting, ill talk about my thesis.

I feel like stating in my thesis how rebecca skloot gives herself too much glory in the fact that she kind of personifies herself as the hero of the story. i would also talk about how deception is a big factor. the main theme would be about deception, not heroism. Although i woud mention that Skloot treats heself as a hero, i will concentrate more on how she indirectlly glorifies herself as the person who “saved” Henrietta Lacks from being an insignificant being instead of letting her become some nameless patient who died of cancer.

draft discombobulation…..

my reaction to my paper

From the start, i was extremely confused about what we had to write about. First I was told that we had to make up our own case study and input our own commentary, so I went by that format, but when I came to class, I saw that others had just done a research analysis paper on a story they picked, whether it was “Forgiveness” or “A Letter to An Academy”

But if I were to put that confusion aside, I would still end up lost because writing papers is NOT my forte. I am not good at writing out my thesis (heck I’m not sure if i could even think of one!) and using the context as support. I am VERY VERYYY thankful that we had the peer-sharing thing the other day because if it weren’t for my fellow classmates, I don’t think I would know where to start on revising and how I should fix it

Bioethics

Bioethics came about when the issue between research and morals into conflict. Issues involving the ethics of types of research were brought up, such as human testing, animal testing, etc. At first, each field of research had its own ethical standards within its own profession. However, as time passed, it became more clearer that a larger, more public vote was needed in order to have a proper ethical standard that was accepted within the general public.

The impact that Bioethics had on today’s society is significant and noticeable within general practices, such as pharmaceutics, health care, and more. It is because of bioethics that patients are allowed to ask about their treatment, and have the choice of accepting it or not. Bioethics also plays a role in preventing illegal human tests in third world countries, where some ethics and morals of our society do not usually apply.
