Our group’s social entrepreneur proposal is based on smoking cessation programs created and run by the government and other non-profit agencies. Smoking is a very important and serious public health concern and we would like to address smokers from a slightly different angle. Most of today’s cessation intervention programs focus on motivating people to quit smoking by pointing out the health risks of smoking. However we propose, based on recent research, that an economic focus would be more effective at really motivating smokers to quit. This project would be very important to society because it will address a widespread and serious health issue and will do so from a unique and novel perspective. There is significant funding provided by many government agencies to combat smoking and we do not feel that we will have much trouble securing financial resources for the project, especially given the relatively low cost of our proposed project.

I believe that our group did an excellent job with this presentation. Each group member had a very clear and direct transition to the next and all maintained constant eye contact. The body language was very relaxed, almost a bit too relaxed, likely owing to the comfort level among classmates. A bit more structure in terms of body language and placement, especially of group members who were not speaking, would probably have helped the presentation. Otherwise, I feel that the presentation was both well designed and presented.

Our group Project is based on the adverse effects of cigarette smoking and how it can harm you and the people surrounding you. The social entrepreneur project is intended to benefit everyone who are addicted to smoking and are willing to quit. Smoking is injurious not only to the person smoking but also to everyone surrounding the smoker. Its a famous fact that cigarette smoking is injurious to health. People start smoking because of uneducation, peer pressure and realise that its very difficult to quit when they are matured enough to know its side effects. This gives us great confidance into believing that people want to quit smoking all they need is some guidance and support while they take that important step that can change their life.

I think we did a good job in the leader as communicator group presentation. We did practice to make sure that the transition between the speakers is smooth and effective. It should not break the flow of the presentation. As a group, we were able to maintain eye contact with audience for most part of the presentations. I think the strength of the presentation was the content and effective communication of the content on the slides in a clear and precise manner. We also made sure that we presented within the given time limit, an important consideration in todays business world. I would have preferred having a bit more interaction and as a presenter I blame it on myself If I did not engage my audience enough.

Three pieces of advice I would give to someone new that I am supervising:
– Practice, practice, practice. When it comes to oral presentations, you must practice as much as possible. If you have are usually nervous when speaking in front of a group of individuals, practice will most certainly help.
– As far as written communication goes, I would suggest to seek advice. In addition, I would also make sure that the employee is constantly proofreading their work.
– Lastly, address any concerns with their supervisor. Depending on the size of the organization, they may offer services to enhance your oral and written communication skills.

Our group project was split into the following parts:
– Problem, Causal analysis
– Solution & Innovation
– Implementation Process, Budget
The aforementioned were split between the three group members. The presentation will also be split in the same three categories and each member who has contributed to their respective areas will be presenting those ideas.

Our group has already decided to pitch a proposal to Echoing Green regarding financial advice. Our project will benefit those in the impoverished areas and will be open to people that are on the poverty line of below. By looking at the Census bureau statistics, our group was able to determine that the area that is highest in poverty in the tri-state region is the South Bronx.
We feel that we can provide our customers with the following types of advice:
– Financial Services
– Income Tax Preparation
– How to save
– How to control spending
In providing these types of services, we think that we can help our customers go from living on the poverty line or below to potentially having enough money in their savings s well as potentially getting into the middle class or lower middle class standards of living. We feel that this is most definitely worth investing since it provides a benefit that can not only reduce poverty but can provide benefits for those that are in the surrounding, such as local banks as well the local businesses due to the increase in disposable income.

2) Make sure to have smooth transitions between speakers during a group presentation.
3) Go to the Baruch Writing center for help improve your writing skills.
