The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Virgin Gorda is The Baths. The Baths is a group of giant, natural boulders that span from Spring Bay to Devil’s Bay. It is a national park in the southernmost part of the island that many tourists visit to see and walk through the natural path between the boulders, made easier to traverse in the past decade. The natural pool below is what you see when you first enter The Baths after you bend to walk between two large boulders. It’s quite shallow and great for non-swimmers to take a dip to cool off from the sun. In the furthermost back, there’s a section where you have to walk over some smaller rocks in order to get to the end of the pool, but that part is deeper and not recommended for non-swimmers to go. I vividly recall plunging into the water when I followed my dad there as a kid.
After walking between many bouldersĀ where you have to bend to not hit your head, and you even have to go down a ladder into a cavern and back up another ladder (pictured below), you will finally reach Devil’s Bay.
Most people just go swimming by the larger rocks, but there’s actually a quieter part of Devil’s Bay (pictured below), which isĀ more private where you can relax and swim without any disturbances. There’s even some island umbrellas to shade you from the sun. The water is more shallow there, so kids can play and swim there.
