The Revolution!
Chicano American Theatre revolutionized the way Mexican Americans are viewed today. Since the 1960’s, Mexican American’s have been shedding light on what it is like to be Mexican in the United States. Through theatre, film, theatre troupes, and pioneers of Mexican American theatre and film such as Luis Valdez, America was able to finally zone in on how important it is to be aware of the discrimination, racism, and the politics we have in this country. Chicano American theatre and film does not just provide richness and consciousness on stage, but off the stage as well. Chicano American theatre and film have always perpetrated mindful and thought provoking themes that Americans and people worldwide should be knowledgeable of. Through these civil rights acts coming out of Chicano arts, the Chicano people were able to create a powerful statement that is instilled within us till this day.
