Vevo and YouTube

Have you ever looked for a video on YouTube and the first video that shows on the list is the official video? if you have, you probably  have questioned yourself about the copyrights of this video when you first saw it, such as it happened to me. But what is Vevo? Who created it? aren’t we supposed to not upload this kind of content on YouTube? in order to answer all my questions, I decided to do some research for my final project and this is what I found.

Do not worry! Vevo is a platform that serves as a video hosting service and it is owned and operated by Universal Music Group, Google, Sony Music Entertainment and Abu Dhabi Media licensed by EMI Music since December 2009. Vevo provides official music videos, behind the scene videos, life performances and interviews on HD by establishing partnership with major record companies, individual artists and other premium content owners. These videos can be found on YouTube and as an alternative you can go to the Vevo website itself.

The main idea behind my project is not to convince you that one is better than the other, instead, I would like to explore both platforms and relate them to some of the topics learned throughout the semester.

Thanks for reading my blog!
