“At the high speed of electric communication…”

“‘Time’ has ceased, ‘space’ has vanished. We now live in a global village…a simultaneous happening.” I thought that the idea of living in a global village is fairly new because the advancement and changes in technologies occurred in front of us. But what McLuhan talked about during his time which was very long time ago, still feels  fresh and new. It is true for now-a-days that space and time does not exist in this world. We can talk to our closed ones anytime, even though if they are not living nearby.  It is hard to imagine that how can he say that there will be no distance at the time when technology just showed its face.

I feel the same way. I just don’t understand how the minor technological advancements that were being made in his time lead him to make such comments, some of the things we have today I would have thought seem unrealistic to people but McLuhan proved me wrong, his statements sound like something a reporter today would say about the many technological advancements we have made till this day.
