About

Chiaki Yanagisawa’s professional expertise is high energy/particle/astroparticle physics. His participation in experiments includes the Super-Kamiokande that discovered neutrino oscillation for which Noble Prize in Physics in 2015. Yanagisawa and his colleagues participated in the Super-Kamiokande, where the K2K and T2K experiments were awarded the 2016 Breakthrough Prize for research on neutrino oscillation. In the past years, he has been applying machine learning/deep learning techniques to particle physics and cancer research (mammogram images as well as information extracted from them). Yanagisawa also utilizes his knowledge using simple simulation models to learn about global warming and to use such tools to teach students. As a high-energy physicist, he has extensive experience in analyzing large datasets. Yanagisawa hopes to make contributions to data analysis for climate research.
