About

Dr. Hamid Norouzi is a professor in the Department of Construction Management and Civil Engineering Technology at New York City College of Technology. He also holds a joint appointment at the CUNY-Graduate Center in the Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES) program as doctoral faculty. Prof. Norouzi completed his PhD in Civil Engineering (Water Resources, remote sensing) at the CUNY- Graduate Center. His research interests lie in the area of using Geographic Information System (GIS), satellite remote sensing data as well as ground measurements in various geoscience and earth system sciences. It includes using satellite information in climate studies, urban heat islands, studying lakes, hydrology, and water resources. In addition to his scholarly work, Dr. Norouzi serves as the Director of Undergraduate Research at City Tech where he oversees several undergraduate research programs. He is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) and an active member of the Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network (GLEON) association. Dr. Norouzi is a scientist/mentor of the NASA GISS Climate Change Research Initiative (CCRI) and was selected as the City Tech Scholar-On-Campus in 2020.
