Newsletter Spotlight: CUNY Climate Scholar 2024-2025 Application!

CUNY Immersive Research Experience – Climate Scholars program (CIRE-CS) is a competitive program seeking determined students committed to addressing climate change and pursuing climate focused careers. The program will run from August 22, 2024, to April 30. Scholars will participate in three-month climate research lab experience, present their research in conferences, attend mandatory weekly didactic sessions, and lead climate discussion with middle school and high school students. Participants are required to commit 20 hours per week and can earn up to $7,500, with funding provided by various organizations, including the CUNY Office of Research and Bloomberg Philanthropies.

Opportunity Spotlight

The Mellon Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship in Climate Humanities and Social Justice at the Climate Museum
The Climate Museum is offering a full-time two year fellowship for recent doctoral graduates. Fellows will work to develop and implement arts and cultural programming to address the climate crisis, empowering visitors to take action for climate justice and promoting community engagement. The fellowship is open to all candidates who received a PhD in humanities studies from May 2019 to July 2024.

National Park Services Biological Science Technician
If you are interested in environmental and ecological research you can apply to be a biological science technician. The role includes conducting field observations, leading volunteers and youth in stewardship activities, implementing natural resource management projects, assisting in data entry and report preparation, and providing guidance and training to project participants. This position is open to those who completed their bachelors studies in relevant fields.

Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship
The Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship funds recent graduates and energy professionals to collaborate with critical energy organizations for up to two years, advancing clean energy solutions. Host organizations include electric public utility commissions, municipal and cooperative utilities, and grid operators.

NYC Future Energy Conference
CCNY is currently accepting poster abstract submissions for the NYC Future Energy Conference on March 28th, 2024. Abstracts must be submitted via the registration form by March 8th, 2024, with final decisions sent out on March 15th, 2024. The conference covers various energy research topics, including sustainable generation, energy storage, infrastructure efficiency, and energy justice amidst climate change.
