Gabrielle Kuiper

Dr. Kuiper holds a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Reporting. She was a recipient of the University Of Sydney School Of Planning’s Global Studio Scholarship, which permitted her to participate in the Global Studio World Urban Forum, World Planners Congress, and Planners for Tomorrow Conference in Vancouver, Canada. Currently, as Head of Environmental Sustainability at ANZ Bank, Dr. Kuiper develops and implements ANZ’s strategic Environmental Sustainability Framework globally. She is also the National Co-Convenor of Labor Environment Action Network (LEAN), a network of Australian Labor Party (ALP) members who campaign within the party for better climate change and sustainability policy. Her accomplishments at LEAN include leading a strategic planning process that resulted in LEAN becoming a national organization and facilitating the writing of LEAN’s first national climate change policy. Dr. Kuiper has lobbied Labor Ministers and other Federal and State politicians to take greater action on climate change and developed the LEAN climate change ambassadors program, which has trained 50 ALP members to speak to local party branches, unions and other groups about climate change issues.
