Ms. Suryanti currently manages the implementation of climate change adaptation at the national level for the Ministry of Environment. She gives technical consultations to conduct vulnerability and adaptation assessments, facilitates climate change development into mainstream planning, develops programs such as “Climate Change Village Programs” by integrating mitigation-adaptation activities, prepares the Indonesian position for negotiation under the convention, designs carbon capture and storage (CCS) implementation projects, and works for international cooperation on climate change issues. Ms. Suryanti was also a guest scientist at the Urban Climate Division, University of Essen. She has attended numerous conferences in climate change coordinated by the UN as the Indonesian representative, resource person, or as part of the Indonesian delegation. She has managed various projects; including serving as the Technical Coordinator for a Carbon capture and storage project, the Secretary for the Working Group for COP13 Preparation, Staff of Directorate for Hazardous Waste and Substance Management, and the Coordinator for OC on International Workshop on Bio-technology. Ms. Suryanti received a degree in Risk Assessment and Biogeography (MSc.-equivalent), from Trier University in Germany.

Statement of Intent


Ms. Suryanti is interested in climate resilience in development planning. She seeks to build effective institutions for coordinating climate change, conduct concrete actions on the local level, and build the capacity to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
