Yuko Komiya

Ms. Komiya is engaged in technical work for the IPCC Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (IPCC-TFI) under the project to develop software for national greenhouse gas inventory compilation. Previously, Ms. Komiya worked for Argus Media, a UK independent energy Market analysis and price research agency. She was the Deputy Japan Representative and provided analysis on the politics, technology, and energy demand, driving the evolution of carbon policies and the demand/supply structures in Japan. She wrote feature stories for Argus’ publications, carbon emissions market reports, energy reports, and business intelligence reports on environment politics for Japanese government and local research centers. Ms. Komiya was selected to attend the G-8 summit in Japan on behalf of Argus. Additionally, she was also a news reporter for several years at NHK, Japan Broadcasting Corporation, in Tokyo. In the fall of 2011, Ms. Komiya will conduct postgraduate studies on mechanisms to combine microfinance and CDM schemes to improve prosperity in developing countries and to enhance environmental protection. She currently holds a Master’s in Art from the Dublin Institute of Technology.

Statement of Intent


Ms. Komiya is interested in learning about the latest climate change policies from US officials and aims to build relationships in order to forge international consensus on tackling climate change. Her areas of interest include carbon Emissions Trading Schemes.
