GEL MANICURES

I know many of you undergo the same brutal issue- chipped nail polish. As an avid nail polish user myself, I understand the stress of constantly needing to repair nails ruined due to smudging or chipping.

A new solution has arrived!

GEL MANICURES!

These manicures require a special formula in conjunction with UV lights to help hold the color longer. The thicker coat is shinier and thicker in an effort to preserve the look for a longer amount of time.

The process

A base coat will be done, dried in UV light, regular color coat will be applied, dried in UV light, and then top coat to be dried in UV light. The entire process runs for about 30-45 minutes and can be $20-50 in New York.

Although this service was initially intended only for salons, some companies have created  at-home kits for your convenience and budget!

The Red Carpet Manicure Pro 45 Starter Kit is currently on sale for about $73 including shipping on Amazon.com- take a look-

This kit is a much faster process than the other ones- promising dried nails in 45 seconds per coat of polish.

If you’re looking for something less expensive, try Sally Hansen Salon Pro Gel Starter Kit

At only $45 this kit is a deal!

This version of the kit is an improved version of Sally Hansen’s previous version where the UV lights were tiny- it only included enough space for one finger at a time- this can be very time consuming!

Concerns

1. Even when this manicure is done by professions at salons, there is noticeable damage to the nails. You are supposed to remove the nail polish by dipping your nails in acetone for a few minutes- this cannot be healthy for nails, especially if your nails are already weak.

2. UV lights are hazardous. Just like UV tanning was proven unhealthy, recent articles are showing that although these bulbs are much smaller, the light still provides a risk of skin cancer.
