Whether through baking, biking or hula-hooping, cutting their own hair or taking up mask-making, New Yorkers have found innovative ways to cope with the coronavirus pandemic, which arrived nearly a year ago, bringing death, lockdowns and disruption to everyone’s way of life.

This this multimedia project documents changes the pandemic has brought to daily activities through photos and interviews with more than a dozen New Yorkers. They describe being lonely, isolated and drained by online communication, but also experiencing flashes of creativity and happiness when spending more time with loved ones.
