There is a movie titled “Mississippi Burning” directed by Alan Parker. In the United States, to maintain the fairness, three branches in the American have respective roles, and the three branches are represented by the legislative branch, the executivebranch, and the judicial branch. However, the movie deals with the actual situation of the black who are facing racial discrimination without equality under the law just because they are black. From the scene, it shows policemen’s (sheriffs) racial discrimination against black people who should conduct fairly based on the legislature’s laws. Also, it shows the court, which should fairly decide and judge in accordance with laws, has racial discrimination against blacks. When it comes to NYPD, I think there is no difference between them and sheriffs of Mississippi Burning. After 9.11, New York City allows police to stop and frisk suspicious people in public transportation, and street, but this infringes on human rights by targeting minorities including black.  In addition, 3 years ago, even black polices in NYPD filed a lawsuit for New You State Court claim that they were racially profiled. Aren’t the police supposed to protect civil liberties and rights and maintain social peace and order? This inappropriate use of force by police cannot ensure citizen’s security at all. I don’t think people want to be protected or think that they are protected by police, in this situation that confidence in the police has fallen.

Recently, the arguments were instigated that schools led children with distracted or hyperactivities, which are just the simple child characteristics but not ADHD, as placing a stigma of ADHD patients, and extended to drug treatment. First of all, appropriate diagnosis is necessary for the distracted children. If the relevant child is suspected as ADHD, the suitable measures should be prepared through the accurate diagnosis. Because these children are distracted, leading them to the medication is just a way to destroy the future of the children. The distracted children at school frequently have many cases to get scolded or reprimanded from teachers, which consequently may lead them to lose confidence and fall into the state of despair that they think themselves as incompetent or stupid. Therefore, the children treated as the ‘outcast’ would frequently appear as their studying ability drops and would have non-amicable personal relationships. The reason of the presence of teachers is to lead the future of children to the right way. In other words, if accurate measures of teachers towards children do not form, the young children will continuously follow the wrong way. According to recent ScienceDaily, the study that resulted ADHD is caused by the delayed development of brain. However, the drug treatments are not an exact answer. It is figurative from FDA that even an insufficient drug supplement is appeared due to abuse of ADHD drug treatment. The university students take ADHD medications during exam periods or when have much stress to higher their concentration. Despite of the warning of FDA, it is very pitiable reality that the overdoses of drugs, and hundreds of students, including children without accurate diagnosis, take dangerous medications with inappropriate reasons. Of course, it is necessary to have accurate diagnosis on children and this would be appropriate to approach in various ways instead of only relying on drugs, although the diagnosis result is shown as ADHD.

There is a movie titled “Law abiding citizen”. This movie sharply satirizes the holes in the laws existing in our current society. This movie awakens the fact on how many criminals openly evades the judgment of law through the holds in the laws enacted by people. The protagonist is enraged on how the trust can be displaced in the structured system of law. The protagonist vows to seek revenge not only against criminals who has ruined his family but also against corrupt, irrational law and society turning away from the truth. As a result, it brings about a tragedy where a normal citizen ends up turning into a criminal as well. Socrates said that “A law is a law, however undesirable it may be” unjust law is law as well. Laws which are enacted by humans and judged by humans can be applied unjustly to people. All people wonder if there will be fair law that can be fair to everyone. Living in the closure of such law, we often see cases where law is advantageously applied to those with power and even for criminals. As a result, many victims are falsely charged with wrongful accusations. Who will compensate victims created from irrational, unjust judgments? Fortunately, we have sometimes seen cases where victims are rescued by resisting such irrational legal decisions. In the above news article, a woman gained support from many people through facebook to rescue victims false accused and charged for 24 years to gain their freedoms. Because there are people who fight for justice like this, we can live inside the legal structure which can be irrational at times.

Personally, I believe that strain, violent video, video game, internet, all have significant effects on delinquency. However, it is unable to explain the reason of the entire juvenile delinquencies as a certain one. If so, how the teenagers, who have encountered violent movies and video games, are categorized into juvenile delinquents and non- juvenile delinquents? Regarding this issue, there are a lot of theories and general principles; one of them is Gottfredson and Hirschi’s General Theory of Crime. They believe that the entire delinquency or crimes occur accidentally and impulsively by the instant desire. They assumed the major cause of juvenile delinquencies as the low self-control. Although they believed that the low self-control is the necessity of delinquency this could not explain all with it. They also emphasized that the delinquency opportunity as another necessary condition, which is emphasizing that the juveniles with low self-control do not delinquent anytime, but in certain opportune situation. It could be said that the juveniles with low self-control do delinquencies impulsively as easily exposed to the delinquency opportunities such as; when they are likely decided as the benefits and pleasures are high enough to get through delinquencies or when supervisions of parents are loose. They observed as the self-control is formed by the nurturing method of the parents when juveniles were younger, and emphasized on the roles of parents in childhood by observing as the continuous tendency would be made after the adolescence, once self-control is formed. Eventually, the common factors of the general strain theory and the general crime theory are; the role of parents and the relationship between parents and juveniles are important, and the relationship between mother and child has a huge effect on juvenile delinquencies. That is, how juveniles were raised in what kind of environment from the parents, which is, the internal factors have the biggest effect on juvenile delinquencies and the external factors are the additional influences.

I believe that Galton’s discovery of eugenic trait has considerable biological meaning. However, he should have not create the new term ‘eugenics’, which is the error to simplify everything, that falls into the logical error of superiority and inferiority. Currently, we are living in a professionalized world with presence of various careers. There is a supporting actor, who calls himself as a level B actor, in my country, Korea. Despite of this, he is one of the most popular actors, who get much love for 19 years. The society does not only want level A. The ideal society has to have the coexistence of various people. This diverse world requires people with various thoughts and talents. One of the well known negative effects caused by eugenics is Nazi the Third Reich. Obviously, it is a negative event to justify the events like the holocaust done by Hitler. The U.S is not an exception. In the past, the victim of the compulsory eugenic sterilization operation was 60,000 in the U.S. The above video is about the payment of compensation for the victims of eugenic sterilization operation in North Carolina from 1929 to 1974, who are still alive until now. Although much time has passed and the compensation is paid to the victims, their pain will not go away easily. Currently, we may commit another simplification error. Commonly, we are evaluated or evaluating by education, wealth basis from the others. Money, which was the carrier of exchange, has deteriorated its meaning. Could this completely represent our identity in deed?
