The Coalition to Undo Racism at Baruch (CURB) comprises staff and faculty who have participated in the Undoing Racism Workshop developed by the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond (pisab.org).

  • Approximately 60 Baruch employees have participated in the workshop so far, as well as some students.
    • A subset of those are active in CURB
    • We meet monthly to ‘check in’ and to plan strategies and events;
  • The Undoing Racism workshop focuses on developing an analysis of the various forces that perpetuate institutional racism. As opposed to personal racial animus, individuals may help perpetuate institutional racism even when they have no malicious intent.

Our Local Purpose

We strive to create space for the Baruch community in efforts to have honest and open dialogue on race, equity and social justice.

As individuals, we encourage one another to evaluate our spheres of influence at the College and to take personal accountability that we view our work through the lens of equitable practice for a diverse student, staff, and administrative population.

As a group, we empower one another to challenge inequitable programs, practices and policies at the College so individuals feel they can enact equitable systemic change for the betterment of our community.
