Google mymaps is a great tool for our group, instigators, to use towards our project. After using it I was impressed with the ability to pinpoint locations and it seemed relatively easy to navigate and save the work.
This could be an essential tool for our group because we are focusing on a particular state’s voting behavior in regard to the debates. We can display all the polling areas in a state and as I did, by county. I would like to gain experience with google fusion tables in the future because I think that could also be a huge asset for our project.
Thanks for this Robert. First, I’d note that your map already has over 130 views, so you’ve produced something that has value beyond our immediate experiment. Where’d you get the data from? In the future, if you use publicly available data, you should be sure to link it.
I like also how you imagine using this in your project. Remember, you’re looking not just at voting data, but at how the debates impacted voter attitudes, so you will need to be very precise in the questions you ask and display on a map. You guys should already be looking for data that helps you answer that question; have you gathered survey data for the first two debates yet? You should do so, and see if it can be geolocated.
