As the both differ in the later stages, I believe that in the early stages the two are the same. My definition of the word Entrepreneurship is starting and assuming a business regardless if you plan to stay in control and keep the business small or find more investors and expand your company. In order to start a small business regardless the type of business you plan to run, I believe you are still an entrepreneur, due to the fact that you planned, organized, operate, and definitely assume risk. Depending on what your goals are, I think that is the line that blurs the difference between entrepreneurship and small businesses.
I am the type that looks to start the business for profits. In order for that to happen, more people would have to pitch in and help. As long as our goals are alined, I do not think there should be a problem with sharing control. I believe that not one person can handle all the aspects of a successful company. That is why i would not mind sharing control of the company with others as long as the company succeeds. With more people within your company, when it comes to ideas and opportunities, it is endless.
Many entrepreneurs do not know what their ultimate goals are until they are already in business. Many of them plan to stay as a small company for control, but eventually have to give that up for financial issues. Many entrepreneurs start off with great and unique ideas, what eventually all of them face the stage as to where they burn out due to working so much. Knowing what you want out of the company that you start is a very important thing. If not, it will lead your company to failure. As an example, if you take an investors money without having a way for them to leave, your company will more or less fail.
