What I wish to accomplish this semester is to improve my writing skills. With this class focusing on English and analysis, I can use the skills I’ve learned to help further my own projects and aspirations. For example, I can analyze a music piece and focus on the techniques that make the music piece convey its tone and then use those techniques for a music piece of my own. Essentially, I would be able to utilize the skills I’ve learned to do the things I love, which is to create projects for others to enjoy. What I’m most looking forward to in class is to learn more about creative writing. Considering the class is focused on English, it’s likely that creative writing will be touched upon in this class so I’m hoping that we focus on analyzing texts. Another hope of mine considering this class is also focused on music is by analyzing more abstract pieces of music, specifically soundtracks. As a personal listener of video game soundtracks, I believe that video game soundtracks can convey as much emotion and story as other pieces of music and I hope that I can express this belief in writing. Personal obstacles that hinder me from doing well include technology and organization. Regarding technology, though my computer is functional I’m in need of a camera to show my face on Zoom meetings. However, I’m keen on solving this problem by purchasing my own web camera. Regarding organization, I admit that organization has consistently been a weak point of mine throughout my life, meaning that I tend to lose focus when doing assignments. However, I’m doing my best to counteract this weakness through managing my time by using scheduling apps such as TimeBloc and alarms. I hope to improve in this skill so that my school performance improves as a whole. For what can be done to help personally, I personally feel like the things I need help with are more personal. Educational problems I have do not relate to this class in particular. For managing my time, I plan to use apps that help me keep a consistent schedule, such as TimeBloc and Calendar. These apps will help me manage my routines so that all my tasks will be completed and submitted on time thoroughly and efficiently. Overall, I hope to gain a fundamental improvement in my creative writing skills and analysis skills, thus allowing me to further my own aspirations.
