Joonseo Lee-Personal Writing Statement (PWS) ENG 2150
As ENG 2100 was the first English class I took in college, it went fairly well. Honestly, I thought that since it was a college-level course, it would be as equally or harder than the English APs I took in high school, but I would say that it was a little bit easier. During my time at ENG 2100, I learned a lot. Although I have learned a lot of the material the class covered beforehand, I expanded my skills on how to use rhetorical devices and how to analyze texts. I thought that my writing skills were in good standing until when my professor pointed out that some parts of my major writing assignments needed improvements and my professor had taught me a lot. What intrigued me the most in ENG 2100 was when we had to write personal narratives of an experience in my life because I am very keen on improving my storytelling skills and this assignment helped me understand my weak points and learn more about how to write personal narratives. I hope to gain much knowledge on how to make better writing and I am most excited about the fact that this class will allow me to write more self-directed writing. Throughout my English class journey, most of the time the papers we had to write had a concrete format to follow which I didn’t enjoy. I felt that it was limiting my creativity in expressing myself and that everyones paper sounded the same. Overall, I am excited about this class and I feel that all of the past English classes I took will help me do well.
