NY Times Project Review (blog 2)

Our group XOXO picked the theme “Attractions” because we’re all attracted to the idea of traveling. What would be a more suitable job than writing about different places we haven’t been to before. We read reviews that has to do with traveling to other countries, states, and places around New York City. As a project leader, I assigned each member to write an article according to their designated sections. We needed one internationally, nationally, within NYC, an event that took place in Baruch college, and two of our own choice. I confirmed the topic of their choice and the corresponding summary that each member handed in after. I posted the summaries and images online, arranged the format as to how the front and individual pages should look like, and submitted our New York Times page. It wasn’t so much of an arduous task so long as the others work cooperatively. This project made me realize that leading means being responsible for everything. Its your job to organize your team and to distribute the work for better efficiency. Most of all, there are deadlines to meet.

It takes a project like this to understand that writing requires a lot of considerations. ‘Who would want to read it?’,’How can we make it fun?’, and other questions like this results in what we read in the newspapers nowadays. It’s all about the interests of the reader and that is how media can, at times, manipulate people.
