The Tempest response

The Tempest response

Attending the 3pm session of “The Tempest” live reading was enlightening and enjoyable. The portrayal of Prospero was captivating, with the actor bringing depth and nuance to the character. His tone reveals Prospero’s inner conflicts and motivations convincingly.

However, following dialogue, especially in scenes with multiple characters speaking simultaneously, posed challenges and detracted from the overall experience.

Seeing the characters on stage enhanced my perception of them compared to reading their lines. The actors’ expressions, body language, and vocal nuances added depth and complexity to the characters. For example, Ariel’s ethereal movements and Caliban’s physicality provided insight into their roles.

Regarding rhetorical appeals and narrative conventions, the live reading highlighted the power of ethos, pathos, and logos. The actors established ethos through credible portrayals, evoked pathos through emotional depth, and maintained logos through clear storytelling.

Overall, attending the live reading of “The Tempest” deepened my appreciation for Shakespeare’s work.
